For our 11th Active Learning CoP session, we will be joined by Dr Helena Paterson, Senior Lecturer at the School of Psychology and Neuroscience, at the University of Glasgow. In this session we will discuss how generative AI can support active learning by applying evidence-based strategies grounded in learning science. Dr Paterson will demonstrate how by using an active learning framework, she has designed online and face-to-face learning activities using ChatGPT and Copilot to help students develop their metacognitive skills and agency (e.g. retrieval practice, spaced repetition, and elaborative interrogation). Participants will actively engage in a "learning activity swap," collaborating with peers on how they can adapt the tasks for their own teaching.
