This page gathers together resources and practical tips to support students to Pass First Time, On Time.
Research shows that there are a great many things that we can do in our own practice which can support students to achieve a pass at the first attempt.
It is clear that supporting students to Pass First Time, On Time will have a positive impact on the student learning experience. As well as increasing levels of attainment, progression and retention, it promotes students' confidence, motivation and satisfaction.
It also helps to avoid excess numbers of extensions and deferrals, which can lead to practical challenges for both staff (e.g. unbalanced marking workloads) and students (e.g. potentially incurring greater financial costs).
The current focus of the Assessment and Feedback themed workshops within our Academic Professional Development Programme is on practices that have the potential to support our students to Pass First Time, On Time. The workshops consider short and medium term interventions that you can adopt in your practice to work towards this aim.
